FAQs

Life is a gift from God, and it is also very busy! With two young children and the unique demands of being a special-needs parent, I don’t have hours to spend in the kitchen like I used to. I had to learn how to simplify. Easy means finding that “sweet spot” where recipes are nourishing, affordable, and timely, so I can still be the present wife and mother I want to be without sacrificing our health.

I know first-hand how overwhelming it can be to manage a household. Between the schedule, the budget, and the desire to keep everyone healthy, meal planning can easily turn into a source of stress rather than a labor of love. I started this blog because I wanted to take that weight off other moms’ shoulders. My goal is to show that serving your family nourishing, inexpensive, and delicious meals doesn’t have to be a struggle—it can be easy, intentional, and even joyful.

For me, cooking is about more than just food; it’s a form of stewardship. As a stay-at-home mom, I see it as my gift and responsibility to nourish my family’s bodies and hearts. Whether I’m navigating a season of “two under two” or supporting my husband through seminary, I lean on the heart of Proverbs 31:15:

“And she rises while it is still night,
And gives food to her household
And a portion to her young women.”

Even after long nights of feeding babies, I find so much joy in managing our home well and ensuring there are no “hidden ingredients” making us sick—just real food made with love. At the end of the day, I know I can only do my best, which is what my husband Garrett constantly reminds me of, all God asks of us is faithfulness, not perfection!

Before I became a full-time mama, I spent years as a Certified Personal Trainer. My time in the fitness industry gave me a deep appreciation for how food acts as fuel. I saw how the right nutrients provide the energy and strength we need to perform our best every day. Today, I’ve traded the gym floor for the kitchen, but that same passion for physical activity and proper nutrition is the foundation of every recipe I create.

Winston’s diagnosis of ZTTK (zttk.org) changed everything for us. Even before we had a name for his condition, I knew he needed the best possible chance to grow, which meant prioritizing real, whole foods. Because Winston has specific safety needs regarding chewing and swallowing, I’ve had to get creative. Finding ways to make food he can safely enjoy—and actually wants to eat—has made me a more resourceful cook and a more intentional mom.
