Easy Homemade Bone Stock Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 2-3 lbs bones beef, chicken, turkey, or pork
  • 1 large onion quartered
  • 2 medium carrots roughly chopped
  • 2-3 sprigs fresh herbs basil, sage, parsley, or thyme
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 10-12 cups water enough to cover bones

Method
 

  1. Place bones and vegetables in your slow cooker or pressure cooker. Add herbs, salt, and pepper.
  2. Fill with water until bones and vegetables are fully submerged.
  3. Slow cooker method: Cook on LOW for 12-24 hours. Pressure cooker method: Cook on HIGH pressure for 2 hours with natural release.
  4. Strain the stock through a fine-mesh strainer, discarding solids. Allow to cool before refrigerating. Skim fat from the top or leave it as a natural seal.
