Easy German Chocolate Cookies Recipe

German chocolate cookies made with cake mix, rich shredded coconut, and buttery pecans — rolled into big bakery-style balls and finished with flaky sea salt. Ready in 20 minutes!

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) German Chocolate cake mix
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.5 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 0.5 cup chopped pecans
  • flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix cake mix, melted butter, and eggs until a thick dough forms.
  3. Fold in shredded coconut and chopped pecans until evenly distributed.
  4. Use two cookie scoops of dough per cookie. Roll each portion into a smooth ball between your palms.
  5. Place dough balls 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
  6. Bake 10–11 minutes until edges are set but centers still look slightly underdone. They will firm up as they cool!
  7. Immediately sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
